Despite often sharing the turf with other sports like soccer, the field hockey team is not to be overlooked. Having only lost to one team this season, this group of girls looks to further prove it’s a force to be reckoned with this season. We interviewed senior captain Taylor Streko.

The Banner: Can you tell us about some of the team’s most exciting wins this season?

Streko: Our most exciting wins this season would definitely be Marple, Garnet Valley, and LM. Our very first game against Delco-Christian we won in OT, which was also a great game. In each of those games we not only won, but we all played well together and that’s what makes them really special.

The Banner: What are the team’s expectations/goals for the rest of the season?

Streko: For the rest of the season we are just looking to win as many games as possible. We have some pretty tough games coming up but I have so much confidence in all of the girls on this team. We have the potential to be top contenders in the Central League, especially after our win over Garnet Valley and having a 2-0 lead over Conestoga (2013 league champions) at halftime.

The Banner: Why do you think this season has been the team’s most successful thus far?

Streko: In all of my years here at Harriton playing field hockey I definitely think this is the most successful thus far because of how strong the team is as a whole. Everyone on the team works extremely hard and we all have a passion to do well together.

The Banner: Are any of the seniors planning to continue playing field hockey in college? If so, where?

Streko: I believe I am the only senior who plans to play field hockey in college. Right now my top two options are Villanova and Bryant University. It will be a really tough decision but I will probably make it very soon.
