Meet Mr. Harriton Contestants Matt Leff and Teddy Kotler!

Matt Leff – senior

This contestant displays his Ram Pride in many ways, most recently by competing in Mr. Harriton. His excitement for the big night is clear, and hopefully it will pay off for him on February 26th!

Matt Leff

Harriton Banner: What is a day in your life like?

Matt Leff: Wake up. Hit snooze. Wake up. Hit snooze. Wake up. Shower. School. Go home. Sleep.

HB: Why did you try out for Mr. Harriton?

ML: I just really did not want to do track but I also did not want to go home at 2:40.

HB: Do you have a talent that cannot be performed?

ML: No, that was my biggest issue for the show.

HB: What is your favorite thing about Mr. Harriton so far?

ML: People have always thought the pool was on the fourth floor. It’s actually backstage. That has been my favorite part.

HB: Who is a competitor to watch out for (other than you)?

ML: Will Snyder. That man moves like no other. Literally.

HB: If you could choose the theme what would it be?

ML: Fruits. Who does not love dragonfruit and starfruit?

HB: Why are you the next Mr. Harriton?

ML: Let us just say some of the judges happened to walk across some brand new cars… toy cars.

HB: What is your favorite school activity, sport, or club (besides Mr. Harriton)?

ML: I have yet to be allowed into the club, but my favorite would probably be Sailing Club.

HB: Personal statement?

ML: You do not know what it is yet, but – 6 A.M.

Teddy Kotler – senior

Teddy is a hilarious competitor with the dance skills to match. Hopefully, his humor will help him win over the judges and crowd, and lead him to becoming this year’s Mr. Harriton!

Teddy Kotler

Harriton Banner: What is a day in your life like?

Teddy Kotler: I wake up around 6:15. I go downstairs and see that my brother Nicky is wearing the exact same clothes as me, so I send him upstairs to change. Then I eat my Quaker Oat Squares and drive off to school. At school, I tend to have a few frees so I spend my time doing homework in the library as well as talking to Gaige about the Patriots as he embraces me. After school, I go to Mr. Harriton practice until about five and then I am off to Harriton swim practice at around 6:30. My hobbies when I finally get home include studying… procrastinating, and filling out interview forms that I am required to.

HB: Why did you try out for Mr. Harriton?

TK: I tried out for Mr. Harriton because during parties in which everybody was dancing, I often found myself standing awkwardly in the corner of the room facing the wall because I had no repertoire of dance moves… So I thought Mr. Harriton would be the perfect place to learn some dance moves and hopefully execute them at the next social gathering.

HB: Do you have a talent that cannot be performed?

TK: Contrary to popular belief, my original talent idea was not underwater basket weaving. I initially wanted to pull out an oversized stool to the middle of the stage, and then drink a glass of water for a painfully long amount of time. The more cringes I could get from the audience, the better…

HB: What is your favorite thing about Mr. Harriton so far?

TK: My favorite thing about Mr. Harriton so far would have to be the success with the ladies.

HB: Who is a competitor to watch out for (other than you)?

TK: I have to admit that Mario is definitely another contestant to watch out for. One second he is struggling through the dance moves while simultaneously playing Super Smash Bros on his GameBoy, and the next moment, he is staring into your soul with those jet black, doll-like, and lifeless eyes.

HB: If you could choose the theme what would it be?

TK: The theme of Mr. Harriton 2017 should be the Hunger Games. The contest needs to start off with at least 30 contestants and works it way down to 10 over the ensuing months of practice. People will be judged by their dancing, talents, and overall likeability in order to proceed to the final show.

HB: Why are you the next Mr. Harriton?

TK: I believe I am the next Mr. Harriton because I exemplify everything Harriton. I have participated in Harriton sports, clubs, and events.

On a completely unrelated note, I have amassed the largest Charlie Brown snow globe collection on the Eastern Seaboard. Even though this technically gives me no further reason to be Mr. Harriton – it somehow does.

HB: What is your favorite school activity/sport/club/etc. (besides Mr. Harriton)?

TK: In every TV show and movie, a stereotypical high school is always depicted as having a student hall monitor. When I arrived at Harriton, I unfortunately learned that this position was not available to students. Undaunted, I took it upon myself the last four years to be Harriton High School’s unofficial student hall monitor. I even protected Mo Hussein when his second floor lunch table endeavor was threatened by the rival business practices of “Zumi Smoothies.”

HB: Personal statement?

TK: Despite my many jokes, I am ready to compete for the title of Mr. Harriton. I have sacrificed countless hours in this quest and I hope on the night of February 26, 2016, you can taste the fruits of my labor. I am ready to be your next Mr. Harriton. The real question is: are you ready for me?
