The Health Buzz Around the Mainline

Recently, there has been an influx of healthy and delicious eateries across the mainline. These places offer simple but wholesome menus with something that can satisfy everyone but won’t exhaust guests from a laundry list of options. In this article, they’re some old-timers that use some pretty impressive ingredients you may not have known about and some newbies that have a lot to bring to the table (ha!) as well.

The old-timers you’ve probably heard about are Sweetgreen and Jules. They both use organic and local ingredients and rotate their menu seasonally if not more frequently. For eaters with more restricted diets, they also offer gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Currently, Sweetgreen’s Winter menu, offers grain bowls ( a salad, vegetables, and grain, like rice), salad bowls (mainly salad and vegetables), and soups. One of the most popular grain-salads is the Wild Child. Jules’ Winter menu consists of meat, cheese, and veggie pizzas with deluxe and high-quality pairings, such as butternut squash, caramelized onions, and apples.

The new restaurants in the area include The Tasting Room, Fuel and Naked Lunch at MOM’s (Mom’s Organic Market).   The Tasting Room is near the Ardmore train station and offers organic and local options, when possible, and hormone-free meats. Like practically all other restaurants on this list, their menu also varies seasonally but is expertly crafted by JPM Catering. The unique feature of this eatery is that you can buy specifically sized portions of any of the menu options. The three portion sizes are taste, entrée, and family size, in increasing size. This way, you can truly sample everything or have a gigantic portion of your favorite dish, whatever suits you.   The winter menu offers everything from sandwiches to salads, to grains, to soups. Their kale salad is truly delicious.

Fuel is the newest eatery on our list! It’s grand opening was on January 30th and is located in the old building of Sneaky Pete’s.   The restaurant has a very natural feel to it with an extensive menu consisting of sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies, appetizers and even more! The Grilled Veggie sandwich is highly recommended.

Naked Lunch at MOM’s is located within the Mom’s Organic Market grocery store. All their ingredients are organic as they use the all-organic produce they sell. They, too, offer salads, grain salads, soups, and other lunch items. Their juices are also organic and have interesting combinations (and names, like Pink Lady). It is quite close to Harriton and easy to stop by to get dinner or simply a snack!
