On October 23, Students from Mr. Lehman’s Foundations of Engineering and Design class competed at Widener University’s Mousetrap Vehicle competition and challenge. The competition was to build a car entirely powered by a mousetrap that would allow the car to move into a certain zone that had a point value. To receive maximum points, teams had to make the car turn. For a month, students designed, built, and tested their cars. The best 5 cars went to the completion where they would compete against 115 other teams from around the area. Harriton had not competed in the completion for the past 5 years, so it was very unexpected to have not one, but two Harriton Teams in the final four. Harriton Team Tesla took fourth place and Team Parkour Soldier beat Upper Darby to win the entire competition. In the preliminary round, both teams received perfect scores and after 7 tie breakers, Etan, Ricky, and Todd won the competition.

1st place Team 2 “Parkour Soldier” Etan Ginsberg, Ricky Sayer, Todd Friend. Built by Etan Ginsberg and Jackson Portnoff.

4th place Team 5 “Tesla” – Tessa Haugh, Will Haist, Sam Kirby.
