Boys Tennis Season Preview

The Harriton Boys’ Tennis season will kick off its season against Unionville at home on March 15th. The team will once again be coached by Jeff Rhodes, but will lose Aaron Bell – the former assistant coach.

#1 singles Isaac Goldenberg will be returning for his senior season, along with Etan Ginsberg, who played #3 singles this past season. The Banner caught up with Jake Pearlstein, a junior player,  who had this to say about coach Rhodes.

“Me and Rhodes go way back, and I’m sure he will be place me in the best spot to succeed this season, and I’m totally gonna miss coach Bell,” said Pearlstein.

The team has some potential this season, and will try to maximize this potential in the spring. The tennis team definitely doesn’t attract fans like basketball, baseball, or football, but junior Samarth Gowda thinks that will change this season.

“We should be good this year, and though everyone thinks tennis is really boring, it’s not.”

Although the team’s core of Isaac Goldenberg, Etan Ginsberg, Samarth Gowda, Andrew Kofsky, Bruce Sachetta, Bradley Koziol, Karl Rickels, and Alvaro Jodar Casco will remain, the team lost outgoing seniors Esteban Bermudez (formerly #2 singles), and the partnership of Willie Marks/David Naftulin (formerly #2 doubles). The team will look to freshmen Jay Ramaswamy and Matthieu Benoit-Cattin to fill the void left by these outstanding seniors now in college.

Be sure to watch out for the tennis team this year as they look to secure a spot at districts!
