Davis Burton, a senior at Harriton High School, has recently announced his campaign for mayor of Narberth.

Burton currently serves as Sergeant-at-Arms of the Harriton Student Council and has been a part of Student Council since his freshman year. Burton has been a resident of Narberth for twelve years and believes he is in a unique position to “harness the energy of the up-and-coming generation.”

The mayor oversees the police force, borough council meetings, and community organizing. One of the policies Burton and his team want to implement is downtown preservation. Burton wants to work alongside businesses to maintain the vibrant downtown Narberth.

He also wants to keep the support for the current Narberth community events such as sidewalk festivals, restaurant nights, and other community events.

Davis Burton has always been interested in politics and social issues; his father worked on Capitol Hill, giving Burton exposure to politics from a young age.

Davis says “The past election really got me thinking and gave me an opportunity to get involved.”

His campaign manager, Harriton senior Jon Diamond- Reivich, believes that Davis’ position as a Narberthian gives him a unique perspective among the citizens that care about Narberth and an understanding of the community; Davis has lived in Narberth for most of his life.

Andrea Deutsch (lawyer, pet shop owner, and borough council member) and Bob Wegbreit (longtime borough council member) are the Democratic candidates that have announced their run for Mayor. Burton is running as an independent.

Davis Burton wants to bring the people of Narberth together and make the citizens of Narberth feel like they are part of a special community. Davis believes that we have an amazing opportunity as a democracy.
