The Zumba-thon

On November 8, 2015, the Zumba-thon successfully drew in people and raised money for breast cancer research. All proceeds benefited the Susan G. Komen Breast cancer research foundation. The event took place in the highlander gym at Harriton High School.

The Zumba-thon was triumphant due to the wonderful Zumba skills of Ms. Vogel and Raphaelle Satre (senior), who organized and led the entire Zumba-thon.

Zumba is one of the most popular forms of exercise in America, with its popularity steadily growing. The Zumba Fitness Company has gradually risen in power as well, being named “Business of the Year” in 2012.

Why has Zumba acquired such a large following? It’s because Zumba is simply so fun. It’s not only a fun way to workout, but also extremely excepting of inexperienced Zumba-goers.

Zumba is a great workout, as it contains a mixture of dance and aerobics. With a fun mix of modern pop and hip-hop songs, as well as Latin American songs, which are added to spice up the dances, dancers can’t help but enjoy this workout.

Many benefits can come from doing Zumba. It’s a great form of exercise, as it burns around 600 calories during an hour of a workout. It also tones the body, as it targets every part of the body, instead of focusing on just one specific part.

Zumba is a great stress-reliever! It improves coordination, mood, confidence, and metabolism. Zumba is great for people of all genders and ages. It’s a fun and upbeat way to workout, and also make new friends.
