Harriton Jukebox: Nothing Was the Same
Everyone at Harriton is feeling it — the post-summer depression. We can no longer turn to the beach to give us a relaxing day. So get back into the swing of things and listen to some music to help guide you through the beginning of the school year. Download the highly anticipated new Drake album titled Nothing Was The Same that was released on September 24th.
Some of us are already dedicated Drake listeners, but for those that aren’t, here’s a little background information about the artist. Initially known as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi, Drake (born as Aubrey Drake Graham) is a half-African-American, half-Jewish rapper from Toronto, Ontario. Fun fact: he attended Jewish day school and even had a Bar-Mitzvah. The popular artist stepped out as a rapper in 2006. Nothing Was The Same is his third studio album following Thank Me Later and Take Care.
Sources say that Drake wrestles with his own insecurities on the new album. The hit single, “Started From The Bottom,” expresses that the rapper would rather read you his diary than his bank statement. His lyrics relate to fans on a personal level. Collaborations with 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Jay Z, Jhené Aiko, and Sampha make the album a hit. Take the time out of your day and listen to the undeniably great album Nothing Was The Same.
