It is said history that ought not repeat itself. However, if history were to repeat itself in the case of the hit show, How I Met Your Mother, then it would be fortuitous.  Millions of the series’ fans will be happy to hear the spinoff, How I Met Your Dad, is sure to be another successful CBS production.

However, the new show is not meant to act as a sequel to How I Met Your Mother, but rather as a standalone series with the same concept — a parent tells his or her children about his or her adventures as a young adult, all leading up to how they met their mother (or in this case, father).  The new show is said to feature more women than men, and will be starring Golden Globe nominee Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha).

Not much else has been released about How I Met Your Dad, but as the weeks lead up to the grand finale of How I Met Your Mother, more information will most likely come out. However, many are skeptical that the latest CBS sitcom will not be able to capture the eccentricity and charm of its predecessor. All we can do is wait and see.
