Bachelor Recap
Season 20 of The Bachelor was one of the most drama-filled, with the most highly-anticipated ending in a long time. The bachelor was Ben Higgins, who was barely featured in Kaitlyn’s season of The Bachelorette, but in his short amount of screen time, America glimpsed a sweet and loving young man who wants to settle down.
All of the women who came on to The Bachelor this season were super excited to meet such a genuine and caring man, and Ben’s actions throughout the season proved that he lived up to this reputation. Ben’s journey was long and complicated, filled with many types of girls. Below is a short recap of the end of Season 20 of The Bachelor.
The final two ladies on The Bachelor were Jojo Fletcher and Lauren Bushnell.
Both were poised, kind and loving women who both thought Ben was “The One.” Ben ended up saying,“I love you” to both women, which goes against an unwritten rule of The Bachelor. The season finale was full of tears and difficult conversations where Ben actually told both women he was in love with both of them them.
However, since neither the contestants nor Ben were interested in polygamy, Ben needed to make a decision. So, as per usual, the woman who first stepped out of the helicopter was the one who would be going home. As Jojo stepped out, many hearts broke because she was a fan favorite.
After Jojo confessed her love, they had an amicable and fairly tearless goodbye, until after the limo pulled away. After a few minutes of Ben’s sobs, Ben called Lauren’s father and asked for permission to his daughter’s hand in marriage. Lauren’s father consented and Ben could hardly wait two minutes after Lauren approached him to get down on one knee.
The proposal was short and sweet, after which they walked off happily together.
After the proposal came “After the Final Rose,” where Jojo and Ben saw each other again; the Bachelorette was announced and Lauren and Ben were announced officially as a couple.
Lauren and Ben did not get married on the show, despite the fact that Chris Harrison had flown in a preacher for this specific reason. All in all, the season was exciting and ended happily, although we never know what the future will hold for Lauren and Ben.
The next Bachelorette is Jojo, which all fans are ecstatic about. Be ready for Jojo’s season of The Bachelorette, premiering Monday, May 23rd on ABC!
