After nine weeks of drama, heartbreak, and unexpected decisions, the final rose ceremony of The Bachelor left fans shocked as Grant Ellis gave out his final rose. It is safe to say that Season 29 of The Bachelor did not end with the typical “happily ever after” story. While Grant is currently engaged to Juliana Pasquarosa, there is still unresolved tension with the runner-up Litia Garr.
Throughout the season, Bachelor Nation watched Grant’s connections flourish physically and emotionally with Litia and Julianna. It was evident these two women were his strongest relationships and although Grant did a fantastic job opening up to Litia and Juliana, he made the one mistake the bachelor should never make: he said “I love you” to the runner up. He did not just stop there. Each week, he said things to Litia that made her increasingly confident she was the one. The situation reached the point where she told Grant to stop making promises because it would break her heart if he changed his mind, but Grant assured her his mind would not change. So, after he told her she was not his person during the final rose ceremony, Litia’s composure completely shattered. Pure shock and anger was shown on her facial expressions as she told Grant that his “switch up [was] crazy”. Although Bachelor Nation had a glimpse of Grant’s “switch up”, they did not fully grasp the confusion Litia Garr felt until she confronted Grant during the final episode. Litia revealed that Grant misled her from the first group date where he told her “he knew she was his wife”. He even told her mom, who they called during their one-on-one, that he wanted to stop the whole show because he was sure that Litia was his number one. Litia also revealed Grant gave her a journal to write down all of her thoughts and feelings, so they could read over her words together at the end of the show. Grant even went as far as telling Litia the night before he broke up with her that he was so excited to be engaged to her because he loved her. This left Litia sad and bewildered for months. She spent time after the breakup trying to figure out when Grant’s feelings changed, but it felt impossible because he led her on until the final rose ceremony.
Even though it has been months since the heart wrenching breakup, Litia is now on her own journey of finding love and is happy to be done with a misleading nightmare, Grant Ellis.
