Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars has returned to the big screen. Thirteen couples consisting of Olympians, Golden Globe Award winners, and reality television stars will fight and dance their way to win the Mirror Ball trophy. Unlike any other season, two of the couples in competition are exes. From the reality television series, The Bachelor and the Bachelorette, Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran, are making history being the first bachelor and bachelorette to compete against each other.
Former bachelor, Joey Graziadei has found much success on the show. Since the first week, Graziadei has scored consistent 7’s and 8’s putting him on top of the leaderboard. It is evident in the Dancing with the Stars franchise that bachelor contestants have not had much success, but if Graziadei keeps up his charm and dancing skills, he will make his way to the finale. Another element which adds to Joey’s success on the show is his bond with his partner, Jenna Johnson. They have been a fan-favorite couple from their strong relationship, which has been shown through the show and social media. Many Dancing with the Stars pairings use social media such as TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram for promotion and involvement with the fans. Due to this new online networking element to the show, Graziadei asked producers for a partner who was in a healthy relationship. When asked on a podcast, he responded with, “I didn’t want there to be any chance of noise with this because I know that comes with the show and the territory sometimes.” In efforts to respect his relationship with fiancee Kelsey Anderson, people still had speculations over Joey and Jenna’s chemistry.
Although heartbroken from season 21 of the Bachelorette, Jenn Tran has made her way to the ballroom floor to showcase her dance skills and heal from her season. Despite Jenn being a last minute addition to the show’s roster, she and partner Sasha Farber have gotten a lot of attention from the show. Like Joey, Jenn has improved each week and received acceptable scores. This new journey for Tran was kicked off with dancing to the song Flowers by Miley Cyrus. This song embodies the theme of self love and independence. After being sent home from Joey’s season and breaking off her engagement with her former fiancee during her season, Flowers felt like the perfect breakthrough dance to show Tran’s personal growth and empowerment. Like Joey and Jenna, viewers have followed Jenn and Sasha’s relationship through the media. Many have speculated that their undeniable chemistry could be more than just pro and star, but until rumors are addressed, Jenn seems to be focused on her dancing journey and moving closer to achieve the Mirror Ball trophy.
