As many people may have noticed, there is a new speed bump in the entrance to the student parking lot. It is placed right before the stop sign, causing a backup of traffic.
The bump could have been implemented to prevent speeding, or even to protect the construction site, but whatever the reason, it is generating annoyance throughout the student population. “It slows everything down,” says junior Staci Dubow.
“The other day, it took at least five extra minutes to park because of the traffic it causes. I barely got to school on time.”
As frustrating as it may be, the school’s intentions in putting in the bump were focused on our safety. They have no doubt been successful at slowing down traffic, even though it’s causing students to cut it close on getting to school on time.
Is the speed bump worth the added time, or is it doing more harm than good? Whatever your opinion may be, make sure to go slow when going over it because it could seriously damage to cars.
