Mr. Harriton is Coming

Last year’s Mr. Harriton theme. What will this year’s theme be?

The popular event, Mr. Harriton 2018, is coming up on February 23, and Harriton Student Council is already preparing for the occasion. On December 3rd, they held an event at CycleBar in Plymouth Meeting.

The event was a success and was a great opportunity for Student Council and the contestants to get into the spirit and get to know each other. The tickets were sold out, and the people that attended reported they enjoyed it.

This has not been the only fundraising event this year so far. Student Council were selling candy grams at lunch, resulting in over $200 in revenue. During the week before winter break, students sat at a table outside the cafeteria selling them for a dollar each.

Harriton students were able to write a message on a colored slip of paper to a friend, which along with candy, would be sent to their advisory.

A few more events are planned. Around Valentine’s Day, there will be another set of candy grams. There will be t-shirts and tickets, art, created by the Student Council communications committee, and old props from past Mr. Harriton shows sold after the 2018 show.

The Mr. Harriton playbill advertisements from local businesses are a big part of the fundraising efforts too. To make things more organized, student council is using ZeeMaps, an annotated map that tells each member what stores they are going to. In previous years, similar fundraising efforts were made, but Yangming was the first sponsor last year.

For months, student council has been working hard for Mr. Harriton 2018, and their efforts are sure to be paid off in an amazing show.
