Rams Fall to 4 Seed Spring-Ford
On Tuesday February 18th, the Harriton Rams continued their quest for the state playoffs against Spring-Ford High School. Harriton, sparked by four early Spencer Dickler threes, finished the first quarter up 18-11 and in control. A defensive charge taken by Alex Shippen with thirty seconds left in the first half kept the Rams in front at halftime, 26-24.
Following halftime, the Spring-Ford Rams started the second half with a momentum-swinging three pointer to take the lead for the first time. The lead changed back and forth for a few minutes, and with such a close game, the Spring-Ford fans were becoming more and more engaged. Not prone to giving up, Harriton’s Sam Schlichting hit an uncharacteristically long two-pointer, giving life back to the Harriton crowd.
Going into the fourth, the Rams found themselves down 44-39. With Spring-Ford beginning to play “stall ball,” the chances of a Harriton victory were looking slimmer by the second. A highlight of the game did come in fourth, however, when Spencer Dickler made a no-look pass to Schlicting for a layup that put the Rams back in the game. Soon after, though, the Harriton found themselves in a situation where their only option was to foul, and the game quickly got out of control. Harriton took a disappointing loss to the fourth-seeded Spring-Ford by a score of 61 to 48, which was not reflective of the close playing abilities of the teams.
