Rams Barely Ball to Radnor
On April 22nd, the Rams fell to the Radnor by a score of 6 to 5. The Raiders came into the game ranked inside the top five in the state, putting them as a major favorite against an underrated Harriton team. Two underlying plots to the game were (Senior) Tom Bernicker’s switch from long pole to short pole defense and (Sophomore) Matt Binnion was matched up against his cousin, Jack Norton. As the game began, the Raiders quickly jumped to a lead, outscoring the Rams 4-0 by the end of the first quarter. After closely contested second and third quarters, the Rams were able to begin to make up ground. Going into the fourth, the Rams were down 6-2, but made an exciting fourth quarter run. Jack Veasey scored twice, giving him a hat trick for the game, and Patrick Stewart scored once. With fourteen seconds left to play, the Raiders had the ball and Harriton was down by one. A great effort was made by Matt Binnion and Brendon Hawley to give the ball back to the Rams, but a controversial call sent it back the other way. After the game, Matt Binnion remarked, “It was fun getting to guard my cousin. It is not something that I normally get to do and it was a good challenge. My goal was to not let him score, and I did that. I will be able to hold that over him for a long time.”
