Boys Ice Hockey Falls Just Short
The Boys Ice Hockey Team faced off against Strath Haven at Ice Works last Friday night. The Rams, coming off a disappointing tie against Penncrest, were hungry for a win but unfortunately could not keep up with the Panthers, losing 5-4.
After the first period, the Rams were down 2-1 but bounced back in the second period to tie the game at 3. In the fateful third period, however, the Rams gave up 2 early goals while also facing Strath Haven’s disruptive fans, who were throwing pennies onto the ice. The Rams could only get one goal back during the rest of the game.
Skyler Thomas, the team’s captain, and Nick Wert each scored a pair of goals. Harriton’s goalie, Alex Krauss, also had a great game, stopping 13 of the 18 shots against him. The contest was very close and competitive, but in the end it was one goal that cost the Rams the game.
Despite the loss, the Rams played arguably their best game of the season, which includes two wins. There seemed to be better team cohesion than earlier in the season, and the Rams also seem to have found a new intensity.
If the players continue to hit the ice with this spirit, this team in the midst of a reconstruction year could find itself with some more wins. This is exactly what the team wants as it approaches games against some of its most challenging opponents. Come out and support the team as it looks to build on its already successful season.
