Rams Over Raiders
On Saturday, January 10, the Harriton Rams defeated the Radnor Raiders by a score of 67-49, improving their record to 9-5 and a 4-3 conference record. This is the Rams’ first away win since December 12! On the other side, the deflated Radnor basketball team continued their poor conference play, giving them a 0-7 record in the Central League. Their record dropped to a sub-par 4-9 overall.
The game did not start off as the Rams would have liked. Down by 2 after the first quarter, the Rams’ shots just weren’t falling. At the half, they were trailing by a score of 19-23, continuing their sluggish start. But after halftime, it was as if a completely different team showed up to the game. Beginning the third quarter on a 10-2 run, the Rams were able to overcome their first-half woes through great defense and amazing fast break opportunities. The Rams never looked back, as they continued their stampede of fast break points to make it a 67-49 game.
Jordan Wright continued his great season with 23 points, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds. He also contributed greatly to the comeback and the 10-2 run. His efforts on defense translated to easy fast-break points, helping set up the victory in Radnor’s gym. Sophomore Will Esposto once again came up big for the Rams. He hit two three-pointers in the crucial comeback of the game. He also scored 10 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and dished 2 assists. Center Sam Schlichting contributed to the blowout as well, scoring 10 points, hauling in 5 rebounds, and recording a block!
