Rams, Aces Split Wins in Doubleheader
During the week of January 12 through January 16, students around Harriton took part in a Winter Spirit Week, in celebration of the doubleheader on January 13 against archrival Lower Merion. Unique types of pajamas were seen around the school on Monday, while Tuesday was an absolute red sea in anticipation for the doubleheader. The Lady Rams were slated to take on the Lady Aces at 6, and the boys followed at 7:30.
At Kobe Bryant Gymnasium, Harriton students were welcomed with a banner that read, “Welcome HHS of Lower Merion.” There is no doubt that this helped fuel a huge victory for the Lady Rams, who set the tempo and destroyed the Lady Aces by a score of 44-33.The defeat at home quieted Aces Nation, but unfortunately, not for long.
After the boys played a nerve wracking first quarter, the Aces led by a score of 12-10. Throughout the rest of the game, Lower Merion expanded their lead, winning by 8 at halftime, 16 at the end of third, and finishing the game up by 20. Lower Merion’s length on defense created many Harriton turnovers, and the Rams were not able to stop Lower Merion in the paint.
The Rams rode the rest of spirit week in full swing after a disappointing loss, putting the wacky in Wednesday, dressing up as different salad dressings, and donning their finest attire for Fancy Friday. Be sure to support the Rams as they look to rebound from the loss to Lower Merion, as they take on Upper Darby, away on Saturday, January 17!
