October 1: Boys’ Soccer vs. LM Results in Loss
On Thursday, October 1, the Lower Merion Aces soccer team came to Harriton on a miserable, rainy afternoon for a hard-fought contest. With the support of the Herd, the Rams were pumped. Unfortunately, they got off to a sluggish start, similar to that of the Radnor game two days earlier, and fell behind 2-0.
After fiery speeches from the coaches, Biff Sturla and Aaron Bell, the team came out angry and fired up. Keeping relentless pressure on the Aces the entire half, the Rams finally scored a goal after senior striker Matthew Leff assisted senior midfielder Benjamin Folds with about 1:40 remaining.
Continuing the high intensity, freshman superstar Alex Kades hit the crossbar on a free kick, barely missing the net with thirty seconds remaining. That would prove to be Harriton’s last shot at victory as Lower Merion’s defense stymied the Rams’ offense for remainder of the game. The Rams’ playoff hopes are still alive, so stay tuned for more updates and make sure to come to the games.
