First Indoor Track Meet of the Season
This past week at Lehigh University, Harriton competed in its first track meet of the season. Despite its name, indoor track is the only winter sport at Harriton that practices outside, regardless of rain, snow, or cold, and male competitors often wake up for meets at 5:45 AM on Saturdays while females commit to attending meets on Friday night until 1:00 AM.
These determined and tough athletes were ready to face the season at Lehigh.
On the boys’ side, the team finished in first place in their heat in both the 4×200 meter and 4×800 meter. Both teams were made up predominantly by underclassmen, the 4×800 with three freshmen.
Senior Andrew Grimes also set a personal record on the 3,000-meter run.
Harriton did not take home any medals – doing so, especially with such a young team, is a difficult feat in this year’s competitive field – but they look forward to building their budding potential this season.
