Last year the Lower Merion Education Association (LMEA) made a commitment to the Philly Treats for Troops to sponsor collections in our schools for the support of our men and women serving overseas. We are continuing that commitment with our first drive of this year in our two high schools.
The high school collection will take place from Monday, November 19th through Friday, November 30. Last year we collected enough items to fill thirty (30) large boxes each weighing about 40 lbs. Each box included enough items to supply about twenty soldiers with the toiletries, snacks, reading materials, and candy that reminded them of home.
This year the LMEA is kicking things into a higher gear by make the collection a competition between the two high schools. It will be LM vs. Harriton to see which school can fill the most boxes, with the winner earning a unique “trophy” to display proudly and a $500 donation from the LMEA to the Lower Merion Scholarship Fund!
