Getting to Know the Vice President Candidates

It is that time of year again at Harriton High School, when a few students rise from the general population with ambitions to lead the school – or at least Student Council. As the already-spreading campaign posters suggest, some of these ambitious students have passed the primaries and are ready to show Harriton why they would be the best leaders. For Vice President, we have two juniors who you need to get to know. Each day this week, The Banner will be bringing you background information (extracurriculars, special talents, favorite foods, and fun facts) on nearly all of the candidates for each position.

Izzy Haslam

Izzy Haslam is a member of HTC’s costumes/makeup department and makes a valiant attempt at swimming for the Harriton team. Izzy is also a champion napper and “basically a genius” when it comes to TV shows.  She takes pride in her ability to eat an absurd amount of food while being the slowest eater you will ever meet.  Included in her giant meals is her favorite food, dark chocolate. And pasta. And Chipotle. However, she is very careful about what she eats – careful to avoid anything with the words “whole grain” in it. A final fun fact: Izzy was born in Liverpool, England.

Jeff Solomon

Jeff Solomon will certainly get Harriton into the swing of things.  A dedicated athlete, he plays for Harriton’s tennis team and passes on his talent to young children he coaches at the Julian Krinsky School of Tennis. Jeff can also do a spot-on impression of Gollum from Lord of the Rings.  He is always in the mood for Auntie Anne’s cinnamon pretzels, but like any capable leader, he tends to avoid vegetables.  Though his red hair and pale skin may be misleading, Jeff is half Italian, or “guido,” as he so eloquently puts it.

From president to sergeant-at-arms, The Banner has you covered on candidate information. Stay tuned on these interesting personalities through this week until the votes next Friday.
