Getting fit is no an uncommon goal. So why aren’t we all out running? Well, because running isn’t always fun. If you’re lacking the motivation to put on your new, never worn sneakers, look no further. These 5 Fun Runs mix exercise and fun. There go your excuses – no more clicking next-episode on Netflix.
- Electric Run
If you’re looking to light up the night because of an incredibly manly fear of the dark, you’re in luck. The Electric Runs route is a neon wonderland. Get decked out in your brightest running attire and follow the neon art path for 3 exciting miles. Dancing is encouraged throughout the run but especially as you cross the finish line to enter a massive neon concert.
- Mud Run
This race is certainly not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re not afraid of a little dirt it’s perfect for anyone looking to get in shape and have fun while doing it. The race, usually 3 miles, takes runners through an obstacle course covered in ladders, hay stacks, fences, and of course mud pits. This course is never dull, or clean.
For some extra excitement, check out the Run for Your Lives run where zombies chase you through the muddy obstacles attempting to remove three flags on your waist.
- Color Run
Also known as the happiest 5K on the planet, this 3.1 mile run lives up to its name. The race is untimed meaning you can stroll, jog, sprint, or hop your way through each checkpoint, where you’ll be enveloped in a cloud of color. Wear white and you’ll even come home with a colorful new shirt.
- Hot Chocolate Run
Who doesn’t love a warm mug of hot chocolate, especially after a good run? After a 15 or 5K (you choose), this race awards you with a steaming cup of hot chocolate and chocolate fondue! Now you can give in to your chocolate cravings without worrying about those calories.
- New Years Eve Midnight Run
Its name tells all. This 5K run is perfect for intense runners or those who want to get a head start on their resolution to get fit but will find this to be their first and last attempt. The gun goes off at midnight, so wear your silliest but warmest outfit and be ready for an amazing New Years Eve that’s sure to blow last year out of sight.
