The Glamour Club
Juniors Jessica Meyers and Sam Sternberg wanted to add their own voice to the long and admirable list of clubs offered at Harriton, so the two began a Harriton chapter of Glamour Club. We sat down with Sam and Jess to present to you the Glamour Club, an interesting, unique concept that certainly lives up to its name.
Harriton Banner: What happens in Glamour Club?
Jessica Meyers: Glamour is a new chapter of the national organization Glamour Gals. Glamour Gals is an organization that provides leadership and responsibility to encourage teenagers to do well. Our club goes to a senior home once a month to perform makeovers and play games with the seniors. The goal of the club is to make these seniors feel young and happy again.
Sam Sternberg: Our club does makeovers with elderly women to give them companionship and to provide a solution to elderly loneliness.
HB: Why did you start this club?
JM: We started this chapter because Sam’s aunt is involved in the club and we just loved the idea and thought why not bring it to Harriton!
SS: I was enthralled with the idea and thought it was really sweet.
HB: What is your favorite part about the club?
JM: My favorite part about the club as a whole is that we get to give back and make others feel happy.
SS: Being able to create bonds with the senior home residents is my favorite part [as well as] knowing I’m impacting someone’s life in a positive way.
