Ram of the Week: Arrion Johnson

Ram of the Week Arrion Johnson strikes a pose.

Arrion Johnson is a Harriton freshman who is involved in the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and Slam Poetry and Rap Club (SPARC). You might have heard him giving out clues for Black History Month on the announcements this past week. The Harriton Banner sat down with Arrion, our Ram of the Week, to learn all about his perspective on our school’s community.

Harriton Banner: What’s your favorite thing about GSA and SPARC?

Arrion Johnson: I can be around certain people who I feel similar to and that also like to express themselves in creative ways.

HB: What’s one thing you did not expect when you came to Harriton?

AJ: I moved here in August, and one thing I did not expect was the people, because I just moved here from West Philly so it’s very, very different. One big difference is acceptance. I like how you can just be who you are in this school, while in my other school it wasn’t like that. I went to Discovery Charter School in West Philadelphia, and although I had a lot of problems socially, I felt like that school was the place that made me the person who I am today, because I started performing there.

HB: What’s one song you think you can relate to, life-wise?

AJ: This is a hard question. I would say “Bad Religion” by Frank Ocean.

HB: What is your greatest fear?

AJ: Greatest fear? I would say either not being who I want to be in the future or losing those I care about the most.

HB: If you could be fluent in any language, what would it be?

AJ: French. Mainly because I want to go to Paris, especially since they have a lot of film festivals there, and I’m really into foreign films.

HB: What is your spirit animal?

AJ: I would either say an owl or panda.

HB: What’s one motto you live by?

AJ: Always be yourself and don’t let others take you down.
