Jack Mendelsohn, Student Council Treasurer Candidate
HB: What do you plan to do as treasurer?
I, as many of you other folks here, enjoy girl scout cookies. I am [appalled] by the stark lack of girl scouts in this school, so one of my ideas is to team up with the elementary schools, who have way too many girl scouts, so that girl scouts can sell their girl scout cookies and high schoolers can buy them. Everyone’s happy, supply and demand, it’s basic economics.
HB: Would the administration approve of that?
I think as far as purposes go. Also, a little Alex’s Lemonade stand out front on hot days could raise some money for charity.
HB: What else are you thinking of doing?
I know people have said this a lot, but trying to get your school lunch account hooked up with the breakfast table. I actually have a plan to do it, but don’t give this to the other candidates. You know how we have the computers in the lunch line? They press the buttons, and select your specific lunch, such as chicken fingers or a drink. I checked with the school, and the student accounts are organized by the school, not a separate company. The way it would work would be the people behind the counter would click ‘breakfast table $0.50’, ‘breakfast table $1’ or any of the other prices. At the end of the week, the school would have a tally of all the money under the name ‘breakfast table’, and they would give all of that money to that club or sports.
HB: What’s your campaign motto?
I have many slogans, and I’m trying not to stick to one slogan, and not pigeon myself into one type of candidate.
- “I’m the people’s candidate.”
- “Make Harriton Great Again? No, Clean Up the Mess in Rosemont.”
Jack Mendelsohn is running for treasurer against Catherine Liu, who could not be reached for an interview at the time of publication. The Banner does not endorse either candidate. Voting ends at 2:40 today, April 12.
