This year has been a turbulent one for Kanye. Ringing in the 2016 with fresh drama, Kanye went after Wiz Khalifa over a misunderstanding, then ranted about him on twitter, subsequently dissing Amber Rose and her and Wiz’s son.

Amber Rose then joined in on the conversation, and clapped back at Kanye with a very graphic and revealing tweet. After her tweet, Kanye deleted all his tweets and didn’t reply.

A few weeks later, Kanye debuted his album, The Life of Pablo, at the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show. Fans recorded one of his tracks, “Famous,” which mentioned Taylor Swift. Kanye immediately was hit with backlash from Taylor Swift fans.

After the debut of his entire album on February 14th – after several delays – Swift slammed West at the Grammy’s on the 15th .

During the beginning of the summer, Kanye then dropped the now infamous “Famous” music video, sparking yet another outcry against him from fans of Swift. The video featured naked wax statues of celebrities; Taylor Swift, Kim, Kanye, Donald Trump, Rihanna, and Bill Cosby, among others, were all featured.

Weeks later, Kim Kardashian released footage of Kanye playing his song, “Famous,” over the phone to Taylor Swift. Taylor defended herself on Instagram, stating that Kanye failed to show her the other part of the song where she was mentioned. The internet overwhelmingly sided with Kanye on the matter, using the snake emoji to reference Swift. Taylor decided to ignore the issue, and instead focus on her own work and life.

On August 25th, Kanye kicked of his Saint Pablo Tour in Indianapolis, Indiana. He performed for the crowds on top of a floating platform that hovered over the audience. After a week, Kanye began using his concerts to address problems that he had been having with other artists in the industry.

After another rapper – Kid Cudi – called Kanye out in a twitter rant, Kanye addressed the situation, “Kid Cudi, don’t ever mention ‘Ye Name. I birthed you! We all dealing with that emo **** all the time… Don’t ever mention ‘Ye name.”

More drama ensued during Kanye’s tour. On October 2nd, Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, prompting Kanye to end his concert early in order to be by her side. Kanye then returned to touring five days later, after the scary ordeal was dealt with.

On October 19th, Kanye called out Jay Z in the middle of one of his concerts. Kanye stated that he and Jay Z would never make another Watch the Throne album because of the fact that Jay Z was too caught up in business to collaborate with him. He even revealed that their daughters – Blue Ivy Carter and North West – have never even played together, and that Jay Z had called him instead of coming over in the wake of the Paris robbery.

About a month later, Kanye told a crowd that he would have voted for Trump and that we should stop talking about race. This angered many of his fans, who recalled a similar incident when Kanye said George Bush didn’t care about black people during a commercial for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, much to the shock of his co-presenters.

Kanye’s fan base saw his support of Trump as an act of betrayal, and instead vied for the “old Kanye.”

Two days later, Kanye preformed three songs in Sacramento, before going on another rant. During the seventeen-minute rant, Kanye called out Beyoncé and Jay Z. He stressed that he was hurt over Beyoncé reportedly saying that she would not perform at the VMAs unless she won the Video of the Year Award for “Formation” over Kanye and Drake.

Kanye then pleaded with Jay Z saying, “Jay Z, I know you got killers, please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man.”

Promptly after the rant, Kanye canceled his concert for the night, not even an hour in, much to the outrage of the crowd, who chanted “F*** you, Kanye” as they left. West then missed his make-up concert in LA before canceling the remaining dates on his Saint Pablo Tour.

On November 21st, news broke that Kanye West had been hospitalized and taken to UCLA medical center. The police were called because Kanye had been behaving erratically while he was at his trainer’s home. Some reports say that he was acting this way because of stress and sleep deprivation, while other sources reported that it was the fact that Kanye was suffering a mental breakdown.

Not much else is known about the incident, since Kanye and his family have kept quiet about it.

Kanye resurfaced in the public eye on December 14th in order to meet Donald Trump at the Trump Hotel in NYC. His fans, who had been sending their love and support to Kanye over the hospitalization ordeal, were once again at arms with his actions.

Since then, there has been no other developments about Kanye and his situation. Hopefully 2017 will be much kinder to the rapper than 2016 was.
