The first automobile was crafted by Karl Benz in 1885 in Manheim Germany. It showcased just three wheels and the first petrol powered internal combustion engine known to man. With advancements in technology, many eras of cars followed. Today, Italian supercars dominate the arena and have been the wall poster fantasies for millions of people around the world. But all that is about to change.

Hybrid supercars are the future. With a mixture of both petrol and electric engines, the cars offer lightning speed acceleration as well as magnificent top speeds. We will outline the three best hybrid super cars and tell you which one is ultimately the best.

The Ferrari LaFerrari

The first supercar is the Ferrari LaFerrari, which means, “The Ferrari Ferrari,” in Italian. The creators boast that this Ferrari is the only Ferrari that matters. The Ferrari that will outshine all other cars that have been built or ever will be built.

With a top speed of 221 mph, the car features a 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds, using the electric and petrol engines to achieve maximum rev counts of up to 10,000 per minute. The Ferrari produces about 14 Mpg, which is not exciting, but Ferrari has stated that in new models that number will increase dramatically.

Visually, the car is a masterpiece and has been called, “the sexiest car in existence.” With its classic vibrant red Ferrari color and curved designed for maximum aerodynamics, I have to agree that the car looks absolutely magnificent.

Before you go out and buy one though, you should know that the base price of the car is 1,400,000 US Dollars. You’ll need a seriously heavy wallet to be able to put one of these supercars in your garage.

The Porsche 918 Spyder

The second supercar is the Porsche 918 Spyder. Porsche has perfected its sports cars in recent years with the Carrera, but this supercar beats all the others.

The 918 is the most fuel efficient of them all with 90 Mpg, twice as fuel efficient as the Honda Prius. It also has the fastest acceleration of the three with a top speed of 210 Mph and 0-60 time of 2.2 seconds.

The handling on the 918 is the best of the three due to the low center of gravity and light weight carbon fiber skeleton that Porsche has sharpened in the last decade.

The looks of the 918 can’t quite compete with the classic Ferrari look, but do come close in style and comfort. The designers were careful not to make the car as big as previous super cars have been in order to increase the aerodynamics as well as provide the fastest cornering speeds ever to be fitted into a production vehicle.

The 918 costs around 845,000 US Dollars.

The McLaren P1

The final supercar to examine is the McLaren P1. Founded in 1963, McLaren is by far the newest of the three companies and less known than the other two, but still competes toe-to-toe with the two other car companies. The 986 horsepower hybrid engine produces a top speed of 217 Mph and a 0-60 time in 2.7 seconds; not quite as fast as the other two, but by far the most fun to drive.

Wheel-spinning in sixth gear, the McLaren makes every turn a roller coaster. It lets its rear end drift out with a simple flick on the steering wheel and has to be driven carefully if you don’t wish to crash.

Clearly the meanest looking of the three, the McLaren sports curvy designs and small headlights never introduced into the motoring world before. The interior is also less stylish giving the car a sort of simple, all about power feel to it.

The McLaren costs about 1,500,000 US Dollars.

These three hybrid supercars have taken the world by storm. The have been featured in countless motoring shows including Top Gear, The Grand Tour, and MotorSport.

They have also been purchased by celebrities like recording artist and actor, The Weeknd, and famous soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimović.

It has been decided however that the best of the three is the Porsche 918. With the impressive Mpg and fasted 0-60 times, the Porsche not only produces the most impressive numbers, but is also the cheapest, as well as the most comfortable to drive.

So if you have 900,000 US Dollars that you don’t know what to do with, I, as well as motoring experts around the world, believe that your best bet is to purchase the Porsche 918 Spyder.
