The Grammys, music’s biggest night, is an annual awards show for musical artists. The 67th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony took place in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena on February 2nd, 2025. Big names like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar were each nominated multiple times across the 94 different categories. Below are the nominees and winners of the biggest awards:
“L.A.” was a celebrated theme of the evening, one that many appreciated as fires have recently terrorized the city. The “I Love L.A.” performance was a beautiful tribute to the city and its remarkable resilience. Dawes, John Legend, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Brittany Howard, and St. Vincent sang “I Love L.A.” by Randy Newman while a slideshow of the city’s firefighters played in the background.
Another memorable moment of the night was Doechii’s win of “Best Rap Album” for her album “Alligator Bites Never Heal.” She is only the third woman to win in this category, which was introduced in 1989. She accepted her award with a tear-jerking speech that stood out amongst others. She spoke about the importance of persistence and reminded her audience that anything is possible.
Sabrina Carpenter made her debut at the Grammys and performed a medley of her hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” much to the audience’s delight. She entered in a tuxedo-dress that she quickly discarded to reveal a sparkly blue bodice. She won her first award that night, “Best Pop Vocal,” for her album “Short n’ Sweet.”
Beyoncé is both the most-awarded and the most-nominated artist in Grammy history to date, and that evening she had been nominated for 11 awards. In addition to “Album of the Year,” she won “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Duo/Group Performance.” She became the first Black woman in Grammys history to win the award for “Best Country Album.”
In top categories, Kendrick Lamar won the song and record awards for “Not Like Us,” his recent diss track about Drake. In total, he has won 22 Grammy Awards and been nominated for 57. He then went on to headline at SuperBowl LIX where he closed his performance with his now award-winning song.
Chappell Roan took home the “Best New Artist” award, rightfully so. In 2024 “Good Luck, Babe!” reached top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and later that year, the song reached 1 billion streams on Spotify. The wide-spread success of “Good Luck, Babe!” led to its nominations for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance this year.
All things considered, the 2025 Grammys was an unforgettable event that included new up-and-coming artists, long-awaited awards, and impassioned performances. The evening was a celebration of creativity and talent, shining a spotlight on the ever-changing music industry. One thing’s for sure; this award ceremony will forever be a place where artists are recognized for the
