The Harriton Physics Olympics team competed against eight other high schools at West Chester East HS this past Saturday. When all the towers were built, catapults launched, leapin’ mousetrap lizards leapt, circuits circuited, problems solved, etc., Harriton tied for 1st place with arch-rival Penncrest. Both teams had performed remarkably.
Here are the Harriton highlights (they placed in the top three for all six events):
1st Place: Straw Arm (Captain: Ben Rowe)
1st Place: Problem Solving (Captain: Dhruv Pillai)
1st Place: Mystery Lab (Captain: Justin Keenan)
2nd Place: Aluminum Tower (Captain: Grace Mackenzie-Smith)
2nd Place: Popsiclestick Catapult (Kai Chang, Matt Ng, Nat Snyder, Ian Hunt-Isaak))
3rd Place: Leapin’ Lizard (Justin Keenan, Holden McGinnis, Alex Herriot, Alec Rosenbaum)
These successes came with a tremendous supporting cast of about 20 other students, especially team captain Kai Chang!
So, it all comes down to Saturday morning, February 24th, the final competition, hosted by Harriton. The cumulative score for the year determines the overall winner. We are presently behind Penncrest, 1495 to 1485 (the next school, WC East, is about 200 points behind Harriton). So this last meet may be a tad exhilarating. You are all invited to come and watch and cheer.
