Boys Lacrosse is Finally in Season

The much-anticipated season is here. The Harriton Boy’s Lacrosse Team has been working very hard in the offseason with head coach, Joe Proud, to get ready for the season. The team started preparing early, battling through a snowy preseason to get ready.

The first game of the season was played against Penncrest, last years state champions. Harriton came out strong, leading for a great percentage of the game, but fell short at the end. After Penncrest scored a few garbage time goals at the end, the final score was 20-12.

On Thursday, the boys traveled to Marple Newtown to engage with another Central League foe. Unfortunately, the hardly fought game resulted in another loss after Marple Newtown pulled away in the fourth quarter.

This year the varsity team will heavily rely on its senior mid field leaders Jack Veasey, Pat Bernicker and Stephen Saul. Defensive players to watch out for are junior Richmond recruit Matthew Binnion, senior Ben Finger, and the talented sophomore Cyros Strickland. On attack sophomores Will Stahl and Hakan Atillasoy paired with junior Pat Stewart create an athletic trio that is always a threat to score. Starting in goal is Victor Fink who has been an extremely important asset to the team for several years.

Over spring break the team is headed down to Duke and UNC in North Carolina to play games and get some serious practice time.
