Boy’s Ice Hockey Midseason Update

With eleven games in the books so far, the Boy’s Ice Hockey Team is in good shape as compared to their results in recent years.

Sitting at a solid 4-6-1 record, the Rams are in solid position to finish the season with a near .500 record. While this may not sound like a tremendous feat, it is quite notable when looking at how strong the Central League is, with powerhouse teams like Springfield, Ridley, and Haverford consistently finishing as top teams, and Flyers Cup contenders. With an imbalance like this in the division, it is remarkable to see the Rams still winning and playing a full 48 minutes of hockey.

Harriton is not the largest team, but has given scares to multiple other teams this season who thought that games against the Rams would be light work.

Impact players such as Will Deverter, Nick Wert, Sam Kirby, and Alex Triester have helped propel the team’s offense, combining for a total of 42 points so far.

Deverter is the team’s leading goal scorer at 11, and Jake Gross leads the team in assists with 7.

Goaltender Alex Krauss has had a major role in the team’s success thus far, with 337 saves (ranking 2nd in the central league) and 2 shutouts.

The defensive unit looks to return to full strength with the return of Albert Bleznak from an upper-body injury.

Various players have been facing injuries this season, including Billy Dodds and Reid Wollock, both of whom are to return to the ice shortly. Harriton needs all of the players it has due to the size of the roster, and the team looks strong with plenty of players returning for the final stretch of games.

The Rams’ next game is against Penncrest on Thursday, January 19th. Key matchups in the closing half of the season include two games against Radnor on the 20th of January and 9th of February, and a second rivalry matchup against Lower Merion on February 6th. Be sure to come out and support the Rams as they look to improve on last year’s season!
