Weekly Seasonal: Glue patterns on Canvas

Weekly Seasonal: Glue patterns on Canvas

The weather these past couple weeks has been drab and unpleasant; rainy, grey, and characterized with fluctuating temperatures. Weather like this makes me want to curl up, watch movies all day and make crafts!

This week I made glue patterns on canvas, which is super easy to make, not to mention there are endless possibilities to the designs you can create.

For this project you will need canvas, acrylic paint, and glue (in a bottle). For my specific project, I purchased four small rectangles of canvas, and four different colors of neon acrylics.

I decided to mimic the LOVE sign in Philadelphia with my canvas so I started my project by outlining each letter in “love” on one rectangle of canvas with my glue. Let this dry for at least 3 hours (I let it dry overnight) and then paint the canvas with your acrylics, painting over the glue—I painted each canvas a different color.

After the paint dries, peel the glue off of the canvas. The canvas covered by the glue will be white so you can see the outlines of the design that you chose.

Although I decided to get four different canvases and I used the glue to design letters, there are endless designs that you can create. You can get a large square canvas and make flowers, a chevron pattern, or even write a message.

You can pour the glue with the cap open and let it drip down the canvas, or you can trace a design you found online. Make your glue designs, watch a movie while it dries, and you’ll have the perfect weekend when the weather is far from it. Enjoy!
