Billboard Hot 100 Hits

These three songs have recently topped the charts and have taken over the U.S.  They’re being played nonstop on the radio, and sung completely off-pitch as you walk through the hallways.  There is no chance you have NOT heard of them… unless you just don’t like music that much (and if you don’t, there’s nothing wrong with that).

The first song is “Timber” by Pitbull, featuring Ke$ha. This is the ultimate party song, with enough electro and bass to go around.  The awesome chorus and beat makes up for Pitbull’s amateur rapping (no offense, Pitbull fans, I’m sure he’s a great guy). This song makes you want to just get up and start moving, in any way possible.  Ke$ha, as usual, hits all the good notes and definitely contributes to the song’s quality.

Number two is “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic, which is less dance-pop than “Timber,” and more alternative-pop. This song has chilled mood that’s good for studying, the bus ride home, or exercising. The song has a calming effect, but also gives you a beat strong enough to pump you up for whatever task you have ahead.

The final song is “The Monster” by Eminem, featuring Rihanna. This is definitely a rap song, but it has some elements of pop because of the backup beats during the chorus. It’s not as dance-pop oriented as “Timber” or as calm as “Counting Stars.”  In fact, it’s got an angry tone to it that the other songs don’t.  It’s really good if you’re in the mood for a fiercer, more deliberate song.
