Every year, a two-day festival complete with amusement park rides, such as a Ferris Wheel, takes place in the town of Old Bar, Australia. On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the festival’s events made a bizarre and briefly terrifying twist when a plane crashed into the Ferris wheel, trapping a nine year old boy and a thirteen-year old girl. The children and the pilot and passenger of the aircraft could all be rescued within about two hours of the crash, with no serious physical injuries sustained. The pilot, Paul Cox, 53, blamed the foggy weather conditions for the poor visibility that led to the crash.
