NHS Thanksgiving Food Drive Needs Your Help!

As pumpkin spice lattes are reappearing and leaves are falling off trees, the National Honor Society chapter at Harriton is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving nonperishable food drive.  The theme this year is “Harriton Helps a 100.” NHS has set a higher goal to aid more families than ever before, one hundred. Last year, NHS was able to provide Thanksgiving meals to over eighty individuals and NHS wants to raise the bar this year. President Victoria Marks is leading the NHS’ members to a successful fundraiser.

As a Harriton student, it is your responsibility to help make the goal to help a hundred a reality. NHS works with a local food pantry to assign families to each Harriton advisory. It is extremely important that each advisory collects everything the family needs so that the family can have the type of bountiful Thanksgiving so many Harriton students are accustomed to.

In addition to NHS’ annual food drive, Charlie Rowe has busily been introducing NHS tutoring back to our Harriton community. Free of charge tutoring? Sign me up! If you are interested in NHS tutoring, which can be very valuable around midterms and stressful exams, fill out a form available in the Help Center or Library. Also, feel free to email Charlie Rowe at: [email protected].

Many wonder how NHS tutoring works. While NHS tutoring, you would meet with a senior student at Harriton who is a member of NHS. At these tutoring sessions, the tutor will review the subject you requested and answer any of your questions about content. Remember though, NHS tutoring is not a medium for an upperclassman to do your homework for you. Students leave NHS tutoring session with a better grasp of the material, but not with cheated answers. NHS trains all tutors on the proper procedure and how to handle their tutoring sessions.

A tutor can cost upwards of $100 dollars per session, but NHS tutoring is completely free! Utilize this part of the Harriton community to improve your grades without breaking the bank.

Are you feeling guilty for slacking on your volunteering, especially during the holiday season, or do you need help in chemistry? Donate to the annual Thanksgiving drive and sign up for NHS tutoring! NHS will gladly help solve both problems with ease.
