Homecoming week brought a break from routine—five days of spirit, competition, and memories that reminded everyone why school pride still matters. This past October 4th, Harriton had its annual Homecoming dance, capping off a week full of excitement and energy. The student council worked hard to organize fun and memorable events, including creative spirit days, a high-energy pep rally, and a culminating football game!
The spirit week featured five different themes: USA, Twin, Pyjama, Senior Citizen, and Red-Out days. Each day brought out a new wave of creativity, with students showing off their best costumes and school pride. The participation this year was especially strong; hallways were filled with laughter and outfits that captured the fun of each theme.
By the end of Spirit Week, the energy reached its peak during Harriton’s annual pep rally. It opened with a strong performance from the drum line, bringing energy into the gym! To start off the rally, all of the fall sports teams made their way out, doing tricks and waving to the bleachers. Some of the teams included soccer, volleyball, field hockey, and football. The dance team came out afterwards, delivering a strong performance and showcasing their hard work. The students and teachers had a dodge ball match, with the students having a dominant win over the teachers. To finish the pep rally off, the Latin Club came out in Harry Potter attire, got students to join in their games, and danced to Soda Pop, which caught the entire school’s attention. The combination of music, performances, and pure excitement made the rally a highlight of the week.
Later that evening, the Harriton football team faced off against the Ridley Raiders in the annual Homecoming football game. Many students and families came out in red to show their support for the team. Regardless of the game’s outcome, the crowd’s energy and spirit created a vibrant atmosphere.
The week ended on a high note with the Homecoming dance, which was a huge success. Over 600 tickets were sold, raising funds for the Class of 2029. The gym was transformed with lights and decorations embodying the theme: A Night in Paris. There was great music that kept students dancing all night long. Groups of friends gathered to take photos in front of the “Eiffel Tower,” enjoy food, and sing along to their favorite songs. The cafeteria was packed from start to finish and filled with laughter and excitement carrying the energy from spirit week into the night.
Events like these remind the Harriton community of the importance of coming together, not just to celebrate but to create memories!
