The North Korea Situation

The+North+Korea+Situation

I don’t think North Korea is going to bomb us. I think we should keep a close watch on them, but ignore their stupid remarks. Here’s why.

Every country’s leader has a goal. In North Korea, Kim Jong Un wants to stay in power as long as possible. That’s it. Everything else, suppression of his citizens, anti-US propaganda, etc., are all side effects of this simple truth. And so, with that in mind, it’s important to ask ourselves, “Would trying to blow up the US or one of its close allies really help him keep his position?”

The obvious answer is no. Of course not! Kim Jong Un may be stupid, and he may be crazy, but I think it’s safe to say that he’s smart enough to figure out that blowing someone up is a surefire way to make sure he dies.

Now let’s turn to what we can do in the US about this. To start, our president needs to take things down a notch in terms of his roasts. Yes, I mostly agree with what he is saying, they are crazy, but just because the statements are true doesn’t mean they should be said.

All that does is add fuel to a fire. To put this North Korea fire out, we need to let it burn. Let it burn down, and stop throwing wood on it. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a reasonable way to throw a bucket of water on it, so we are just going to have to deal with it and let it burn down.

So, instead of trying to “intimidate” them, or call them out for their stupidity, let’s take a chill pill, and just let them be stupid (under our close surveillance). It’s a cheaper solution, that will probably yield better results. President Obama was smart about this. I’m pretty sure “strategic patience” was his cover up for saying that we need to stop obsessing over them, and they will die down.
