Girls’ Basketball: Upper Merion 43, Harriton 33

In the Rams’ first playoff appearance in nearly three years, they came up short against Upper Merion in the first round. Despite the loss, the future looks bright for the girls’ squad, who improved from 1-21 to 8-15 this year. Freshmen Katie Melvin and Sabrina Tabasso led Harriton with 12 and 10 points, respectively, and will have three more years leading the way for the team. Melvin in particular was praised by Coach Carla Coleman during the game, almost single-handedly erasing a 37-17 Upper Merion lead. Coleman may have stated it best after the game: “As Katie goes, we go.” The Rams will certainly hope this is true in future years as they lose only one senior from this year’s team.
