Swimming Their Way to Distrcts (Already)

It’s only two meets into the Harriton swimming season, but the squad is already looking toward postseason play. It’s still quite early, but at least nine aquatic Rams have clinched a ticket to the District championship meet.

The most impressive performance has come from senior Moira Lavelle, who finished first in her 200 meter freestyle race against Springfield (the Rams lost, 81-96) and followed it up by qualifying for Districts in the same event and the 100 meter free in the next meet (a loss to Strath Haven). On the boys’ side, Grant Fisher qualified in both the 200 and 500 meter free.

Other qualifiers include Julia Carp, Emma Butler, Devon Kelly, and Jenny Langer in the 200 medley relay and Lavelle, Carolyn Berkgvist, Lexi Harder, and Taylor Brusilow in the 200 free relay.

The records for both the boys and the girls stand at 0-2, but the season has been promising thus far. There should be many more swimmers headed to Districts by the time the year is over– and a few league wins as well.
