Top 10 Valentine’s Day Moments in Sports

It would almost be impossible to make a “Top 10” list of the best moments in all of sports history with a countless number of memorable times int he pro-athletic world. However, the following list is composed of memorable times in sports history that all took place on Valentine’s Days of the past. The Top 10 Moments in Sports that all occurred on February 14ths of the past include:

10. 1971-Gheorghe Muresan is born (tied for tallest NBA player with Manute Bol at 7 ft. 7 in.)

9. 2010- NBA All Star Game is held in front of 108,713 fans largest crowd to attend a basketball game or indoor event ever, East beats West 141-139, Dwayne Wade is MVP

8. 1988-49th PGA Seniors Golf Championship: Gary Player

7. 1960-Jim Kelly Is Born (Hall of Fame Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, Led Team to Super Bowl four years in a row)

6. 1952-6th Olympic winter games open at Oslo, Norway

5. 1994-Alexander Golubev skates Olympic record 500m (36.33)

4. 1988-Bobby Allison at 50 becomes oldest driver to win Daytona 500

3. 1980-13th Winter Olympic games open in Lake Placid, NY

2. 1966- Wilt Chamberlin breaks NBA career scoring record at 20,884 points

1. 1951-“St. Valentine’s Day Massacre” Sugar Ray Robinson defeats Jake LaMotta & takes Middleweight Title
