Meet The Players: Jesse Bregman, Baseball Superstar

As you may know, junior Jesse Bregman is having a stellar year for the baseball team, but very few have gotten the privilege to chat one-on-one with this baseball superstar. Read and get to know Jesse not only as a player, but as a person. Enjoy!

HB: When you woke up the morning of the no-hitter, did you feel like something special was in store?

JB:  Our coach always texts us the night before games with something inspirational.  That night he texted us to visualize.  Visualize every play in the field, every pitch in the box, and every pitch on the mound.  I visualized shutting down Upper Darby and it definitely gave me confidence on the mound.

HB: Is it safe to say you are the ace of the Harriton Rams varsity pitching staff?

JB:  No, Everything we’ve done has been a team effort.  My no-no was the 3rd complete game of the year thrown by a Harriton pitcher. Corey Neel, Max Bershad, Daniel Schupper, and Tristan Kevitch have all been stellar this year.

HB: Were there any points in the game where you felt that your no hitter was in jeopardy? If so, when?

JB: Yes, in the top of the 6th there was a swinging bunt down the 3rd base line. Once Drake realized it wasn’t rolling foul, he barehanded it and made a great play to get the runner out at first.

HB: Did you know throughout the course of the game that you were throwing a no hitter or were you too focused on the game to realize?

JB: I didn’t really realize until there were 2 outs in the 7th.  When that last batter was up he was irrelevant, it was just me and Skylar having a catch.

HB: How would you describe Jimmy Bredt as a captain this year? Do you see yourself as a captain in the future?

JB: Jimmy has been a fantastic captain this year.  The senior leadership overall is one of the things that is driving our team.  A majority of them have been playing together for 3-4 years and the juniors on the team have been playing with them for 2-3 years, we’ve become a family.

HB: What is one thing that the average person does not know about the baseball team?

JB:  That baseball is quietly having a fantastic season and that all fan support is welcome.

Enough about baseball, lets really get to know you!

HB: Do you see yourself as a possible leader in the township-wide-famous student section at Harriton High School, better known as the Herd?

JB:  I see myself as one of the more passionate fans, but not necessarily the most passionate. That fan should have the honor of being the leader.

HB: What other sports have you participated in at Harriton High School?

JB: I played soccer my freshman year and basketball my freshman and sophomore year

HB: Lastly, how does it feel to get interviewed by the Harriton Banner? Does it make you feel special?

JB: I feel like a celebrity, of course.

Remember to keep reading the Harriton Banner for more baseball updates!
