October 12: Boys’ Soccer Defeats Friends Central in Defensive Battle

Last Saturday night, October 12, the Harriton boys’ soccer team took care of business against the talented Friends Central team from across town.

While there were frequent changes in possession and momentum in the early parts of the first half, the Rams began to dominate in the second half. Assisted by senior striker Matthew Leff, team co-captain and senior Felix Serlin made a beautiful goal from inside the box. The Rams came away with a 1-0 victory thanks to this goal.

The defense was also fantastic despite the absence of captain Matt Binnion. The defensive unit (led by goalie Lucas Serlin and defenders Aaron Dickman, William Marks, and Anthony Calligaro) had its third straight shutout.

The Rams are playing their best soccer at the most important time of the year. As of October 12, Harriton was 8-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in Central League. The boys look to continue their playoff push as they take on tough Central League opponents next week.
