Boys’ Basketball Preview: An Interview with Senior Charlie Veasey

As Winter begins to settle in, Harriton basketball will get off to a fresh start. With the arrival of a new coach — in Kyle Sample — the team will look to maximize its potential with the departure of former senior and starting guard Will Esposto — now playing at The College of New Jersey. We caught up with senior guard Charlie Veasey, to get his take on the program and how everything is going as of yet.

HB: Hey Charlie, thanks for doing this interview.

Charlie: Happy to talk a little bit about the team.

HB: What would you say we should most look forward to this year?

Charlie: I would say that we have a lot of young talent and players from last season that have improved from the year before. For example, Lance [Chestnut] has grown from freshman year and seems to have a more developed shot. His basketball IQ has clearly gotten a lot better. I think a lot of guys on the team have gotten better.

HB: How do practices with Coach Sample differ from ones previously with Coach Rappaport?

Charlie: Well, the practices this year are much more intense.  We need to form team leaders and Coach Sample is doing a good job in trying to make us all more competitive.

HB: What is your play style and if you had to compare yourself to one NBA player, who would it be?

Charlie: I’m a strong shooter but can play positions 1-3. I tend to look for the open man in the post. I also like to think that I play pretty solid defense. If I were to compare myself to one shooter it would be Klay Thompson.

HB: Alright, thanks for talking with us Charlie.

The basketball team looks promising this year. Make sure to the Rams, home and away!
