128 players. Now 16. For the first time, rising tennis star Ann Li reached the third round in the US Open Women’s Singles. Born and raised 20 minutes from Harriton, Ann Li started playing tennis at the age of five. It was at Legacy Youth Tennis And Education (a name familiar to many) where Li began to foster her identity as a tennis player. Her skills were well honed; in 2017, she reached the junior finals of Wimbledon and climbed to her highest ITF junior ranking of #12 in 2018. Li made the tough decision to go pro instead of accepting a scholarship to play tennis at LSU. She was only 17.
After joining the WTA Tour, Li competed in a variety of WTA tournaments before qualifying for multiple Grand Slams. This summer at the 2025 US Open, Ann Li calmly fought point by point, finally making it to the Round of 16’s in a Grand Slam tournament before a tough loss against the 4th seed, Jessica Pegula (lost to eventual victor Aryna Sabalenka in semifinal). Currently ranked #58 in the world, this tournament should put her back on track to surpass her highest career ranking of #44.
