Zachary Alfred-Levow, a Freshman

Todd Marrone was one of the greatest teachers I ever had. I came into his class hating art, and left feeling much better about myself. He made everyone feel comfortable and safe in his room, as he played jazz music, balanced stools on his chin, “whistled through his ears,” and never let me throw out a single painting. He always described his room as the place “where the magic happens,” but the magic only happened because he was there. He always went against the grain, to create something funny or ingenious. No one will ever come close to matching his creativity and genius ever again. Rest in peace, Mr. Marrone.
