Marc Vetri Opens New Pizzeria in Philadelphia

Pizza, calzones, salads, homemade soft-serve ice cream; what else could you ask for in a restaurant? On September 6th, Marc Vetri opened his fifth restaurant in Philadelphia, Pizzeria Vetri. This casual, family joint has been crowded ever since its opening a few weeks ago. With a great atmosphere, fabulous menu, and exceptional food, Pizzeria Vetri is definitely worth your Friday night.

To start off my meal, I was able to taste two incredible salads: the Italian Caesar and the Arugula Salad. The Italian was made of escarole lettuce, bagna cauda (a warm Italian oil,) parmiagiano cheese, eggs, and their signature pizza dough croutons. These ingredients harmonized to create a tangy, crisp, and refreshing taste that kept me coming back for each new bite. The croutons were the perfect addition to this twist on the classic Caesar salad. The second salad, the Arugula, was made with coal roasted potatoes, pesto, taggiasca olives, and arugula leaves. It was a flavor combination that I had never thought of before, but now can not wait to try this simplebut delicious dish at home! These were great starters, but the least of what was to come.

When the pizza came out, words could not describe how mouth-watering and delicious it looked. I tasted the Quattro Formaggi (four-cheese), the classic Margherita and their calzone. The Quattro Formaggi had gorgonzola, mozzarella, smoked provolone and fontina. All of the cheeses put together into one pizza created a taste that was incredibly delicious, creamy and had just the right amount of richness. The thin yet soft crust was a great addition to the pizza. The Margherita was very similar to any classic Margherita and had perfect slices of Mozzarella cheese with their homemade marinara sauce. The calzone, my personal favorite, was creamy, light and delicious. Flavor aside, the serving size was generous and was more than enough for my family of six.

To finish off the meal, Pizzeria Vetri offers homemade soft-serve ice cream. They were offering two flavors, fiordilatte (sweet cream) and cappuccino. Both of these flavors were extremely creamy, rich and sweet. My favorite was the fiordilatte, but they are both worth the room, so you should always save room for dessert!

Pizzeria Vetri is a great place to casually sit down with your family and enjoy a great piece of pizza. With great salads, pizzas and soft-serve ice creams, Pizzeria Vetri is a restaurant that I will definitely be going back to in the near future.

Pizzeria Vetri is located at 1939 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.
