Around the World with Anabelle: Mountain Springs Lake Resort, Poconos

Settled in the depths of the Pocono forests, there lies a family resort, complete with activities for all ages.  Whether you seek family cabin rentals, a romantic wedding location, or a winter resort, you cannot go wrong with Mountain Springs Lake Resort.

Upon your arrival at the 325 private woodland acres, you will go to your log cabin, equipped with your own small kitchen, bedroom and fireplace. You will also notice the canoe outside of your cabin, docked on the shores of the lake.  This 76-acre spring-fed lake will surely be your best friend during your stay here.  Hop into your canoe to catch some fish – either bring your own gear, or rent some from the shop on property.  You will surely catch fish of all shapes, colors, and sizes, from largemouth bass to picklers and sunfish.  And why not take a little time for yourself? Go on a morning or evening row for pure serenity.

All of the excitement happens on the sands of the lake’s shore, where there are horseshoes and a net for volleyball or badminton. Embrace your inner child at the full playground with seesaws. If you are feeling adventurous, wade into the murky waters of the lake. Once you have conjured up enough courage and gotten over the coldness of the water, swim out to the dock to sunbathe for a while.

Want to take a break from the lake?  Make sure to take advantage of the trails winding through the deep woods for hiking or biking. (Bring your own bicycles!) Depending on the length of your stay, you might want to leave the property sometime and head down to the nearby waterpark, Camelbeach, or try ATVing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, or kayaking (all close by off of the Mountain Springs property).

Summer stays are sure to be wonderful, but maybe you’d like to experience some winter fun.  Try tobogganing or blaze your own trail for cross-country skiing.  For downhill skiers and snowboarders, the slopes of Camelback are less than ten minutes away. For those who just want to eat after a long day on the snow or sand, each cottage is equipped with its own outdoor charcoal grill, as well as the previously mentioned kitchen.  However, do not be afraid to hop in your car to visit one of the many nearby off-resort restaurants.

To visitors of all ages in all seasons, Mountain Springs Lake Resort in the Poconos is sure to provide an ideal getaway.  Through canoeing, fishing, biking, hiking, beach sports, swimming, and more, you will forget that the rest of civilization exists in this small piece of outdoor serenity.
