Getting to Know the Secretary Candidates

It is that time of year again at Harriton High School, when a few students rise from the general population with ambitions to lead the school – or at least Student Council. As the already-spreading campaign posters suggest, some of these ambitious students have passed the primaries and are ready to show Harriton why they would be the best leaders. For Secretary, we have two juniors who you need to get to know. Each day this week, The Banner will be bringing you background information (extracurriculars, special talents, favorite foods, and fun facts) on nearly all of the candidates for each position.

Jane Cook:

Jane Cook, cheerleader, certainly has school spirit.  She is a Junior Board Member for Gems Not Genocide, plays an active role in HSL, and works for HTC’s costumes/makeup department. Jane can roll her tongue in several different ways and is very capable of lifting and throwing people, thanks to her cheerleading experience. Fun fact: this candidate for Secretary did not discover her birthmark until age 13. Lastly, she is artistically and musically gifted; she plays the piano and sings, and her artwork is displayed along Harriton’s walls, along with her diverse campaign posters (Tarzan wants you to vote for her).

Jane Henderson:

It seems that Jane Henderson, as her posters say, is really running for secretary.  She is part of Harriton’s cross country, track and RAMLAX teams. Though she is a very talented runner, Jane does not participate in the hurdling events, as her inability to clear one is extremely impressive.  She is always up for chicken fingers, as well as coffee ice cream, which she often has for breakfast (a very nutritious way to start the day), but she prefers to give her vegetables to her twin sister, Maura. It is her belief that sharing is caring.

From president to sergeant-at-arms, The Banner has you covered on candidate information. Stay tuned on these interesting personalities through this week until the votes next Friday.
